CanTEST
Test Schedule and Registration Procedures
The CanTEST is administered in Ottawa and Toronto at regular intervals. The dates for the upcoming sessions are listed below. If you wish to take the CanTEST at one of our other test sites, please contact the test site for information about their test fees and dates.
Candidates are reminded that they may not repeat the CanTEST at any test site within three months of their last attempt.
Registering for the test
The registration form for each testing session is only available from the date registration begins until the end of registration. Registration forms can be obtained by:
- downloading a registration form (requires Acrobat Reader)
- applying in person
- requesting a registration form by e-mail to: cantest@uOttawa.ca
- requesting a registration form in writing (by mail)
Completed registration forms, photocopies of identification and full payment (money order, certified cheque or cash) must be sent to:

Test registrations for the Ottawa and Toronto sites are confirmed by email. Receipts are issued at the testing session.
Registration Deadline
Registration forms and fees must be RECEIVED at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute TEN working days prior to the test session. It is the candidate’s responsibility to allow adequate time for the forms to arrive by mail. The CanTEST office reserves the right to close registration prior to the deadline if the session is full. Late registration is accepted on a space-available basis for an additional fee of $35.00.
Cancellation Policy
Candidates who cancel at least 10 business days prior to the test session will receive a refund, less a $20.00 administration charge. Candidates who cancel less than 10 business days before the testing session will not receive a refund, but they may, upon request, transfer their registration and fees to the NEXT scheduled test session. Candidates unable to attend the test session must contact the CanTEST Office within 5 days of the testing session to request a transfer of their registration.
